Marvel Cinematic Universe

From Wiki

Movies

Black Panther

  • Audio Design: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • Sound effects fit the culture represented
    • Great music selection
  • Cinematography: πŸ‘
    • CGI is regularly noticeable, but serviceable
  • Story: πŸ‘

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

  • Audio Design: πŸ‘
    • Great music, but audio balancing seems off
  • Cinematography: πŸ‘
    • CGI is occasionally noticeable, but otherwise good
  • Story: πŸ‘

Black Widow

Mediocre MCU film. Doesn't serve much of a purpose story wise, and feels like it's missing character details.

Eternals

  • Marvel has made a great Superman (Ikarus) movie before DC has.
  • One of the better Marvel movies.
  • The Deviants could've used a little more background.
  • Would've been nice to see more Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington) aka Black Knight.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1

  • Cinematography: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • Unique not only in the superhero genre, but across movies in general
  • Story: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • One of the better MCU stories
  • Audio: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • Great soundtrack
  • Heroics: πŸ‘
    • More of a feel good for doing good than inspirational

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

  • Cinematography: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • Continues what Vol. 1 started
  • Story: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • Slow in the middle, but more emotionally rewarding than Vol. 1
  • Heroics: πŸ‘

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

  • Cinematography: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • Continues where Vol. 2 left off
  • Story: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • Better than Vol. 2, about as good as Vol. 1
    • For better and for worse, a lot of time is spent without adult Rocket
  • Heroics: πŸ‘πŸ‘
    • The Guardians are doing their best to save their friend and the galaxy in a way only they would
  • Audio: πŸ‘
    • The pop tracks used aren't as good as Vol. 1, but are still recognizable and fit well

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

  • Marvel fixed the Mandarin in the MCU, and he’s pretty great.
  • Some CGI is noticeable (green screen much?), but it’s good when it counts.
  • Why would the Mandarin not have guards after getting married and having kids? Seemed like the thugs that killed his wife got into their home too easily.
  • Great combat sequences.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

  • Movie is pretty short (hour and a half). I think the movie could've used more time for explanation and setup.
  • Carnage doesn't feel right compared to his comic counterpart.
  • Overall it's not a great movie. Solidly mediocre.

TV Shows

Loki Season 1

  • The few fight scenes in the show feel a little off.
  • Surprisingly good CGI for a TV show.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Fairly run of the mill MCU content. It's nothing amazing, but gets the job done. Last 3 episodes are better than the first 3. Probably better to read a synopsis for most people, or for a refresh (instead of a second viewing).

Wandavision

The ending confrontation was a little underwhelming. Not bad though mind you, just fairly standard. I like how the show slowly let’s you know that something isn’t right. Then drops the hammer on everything. It’s nice that’s Vision is actually back, but not seeing Vision 2.0 meet Wanda was unfortunate. So, the last episode is called β€œThe Series Finale.” Is that referencing Wandavision, or Wandavision? Wanda’s Halloween costume (comic suit) and new suit both look great.

What If...?

  • Fist episode is somewhat corny. It would be fun to watch it after the first Captain America movie.
  • The dialog starts fairly corny, but gets better throughout the series.
  • There can't be infinite universes. Some universe would say the idea of infinite ones is impossible, therefore making it true. Others would figure out how to travel between them at any/all points of time and destroy them.
  • Overall pretty enjoyable. The animation is consistent and clean. The Star Wars animated shows should use a similar one.
